This is a london based contemporary art blog.
A collection of posts to help develop my ideas and practice the critic of art in general.
I spend a lot of time in commercial galleries so mainly it will be about those.
I like new artists so if you know any that i should look at please do tell me about them.
I’m a collector and sometimes posts may be about artists i collect, although i won’t mention it.
If you want to contact me feel free:

Dear Blogger,
I am writing to you as a student of the MA Curating the Art Museum programme at The Courtauld Institute of Art. As part of our course we are invited to curate an exhibition and this year we have been asked to respond the The Courtauld Gallery’s summer showcase, Collecting Gauguin: Samuel Courtauld in the ’20s. This has been a wonderful starting point and with access to The Courtauld and Arts Council collections we have been blessed with extraordinary artworks. However, we also have works from directly from artist studios and UBS, and as such, we have secured works by Charles Avery and Tacita Dean. This will be the first time The Courtauld has shown a film work, and we have been particularly ambitious to reconfigure the gallery space itself.
I would like to present to you, Imagining Islands: Artists and Escape, a trans-historical exhibition, which takes inspiration from Gauguin’s exotic travels to the Tahitian islands and explores the ways in which the island stands for elusive ideals and tantalising fantasies in the artistic imagination. The exhibition opens Thursday 20th June- 21st July and to coincide with the show we also have an exciting public programme of talks and events, including Mariele Neudecker and Mary McIntyre (two artists exhibiting in the show) in conversation, 21st June. For more information see:

If you have any further queries or wish to receive a press pack, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Charlotte

Hi WPD,
I work with The Connection at St Martin’s, a charity next to Trafalgar Square which helps thousands of homeless people every year. We have an art room which makes an enormous difference to homeless people’s self-esteem and confidence. Encouraging people to express themselves plays an important role in progression and moving away from the streets.
On the 19th September we will be launching an online art auction and all proceeds will go towards our art room. We have donations from artists including Maggi Hambling, Charlie Mackesy, Tom Hammick and homeless artists that use our art room.
We wondered whether you could display some information about our auction website nearer to the time? To find out more perhaps you’d like to visit us, see our art room and meet some of the artists?
Here is a quote from Lesley who uses the art room:
“Since becoming a part of the Connection, mainly the art, mixing with other people in here, I’ve gained a lot of self- worth and feel more like a whole person. I gained a lot of insight into life.
I learnt not just about the art, but how to deal with life. I feel part of life now, I don’t feel so alone any more, and more fulfilled.”
For more information about our art room, here’s a short film by John Paul describing the difference the group makes to his confidence and what inspires him to paint http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6ktmaQT9LM
I hope to hear from you soon.
Best wishes
Alfie Glover-Short
